Paradise in Disguise Hobby Farm Blog

As those living in NY state know, April greeted us with cold temperatures and the most snow we had all winter. But, 10 days later, and spring came back. It was wonderful to not be bundled up in layers, and the chickens enjoyed the sunshine. The grass has been growing beautifully, so while I spring-cleaned the "Brooder Barn", I let the young chicks, broody hens & "Mini Flower" breeding group out into the fresh spring grass.  Lydia & the Feb 2016 Hatch chicks  "Mini Flower" Group  Dec 2015 Hatch Pullet - "Dos"  Jan 2016 Hatch Pullet  New SFH chick - new bloodlines, not sure if this is a rooster or pullet yet. As I first sat down here to write a blog post, I found myself not knowing what to write or where to begin. Perhaps it was because there's so much "uncertain" at this moment. I know what I was originally hoping to do this year - as one week ago I shared "my ideas" with the family. Then, another opportunity came up, but at this point we're not sure if it's going to work out or not. If it does, all those original "ideas" and "plans" will be changed, but hopefully for the better. I'm not going to say what that is, until I know if it's moving forward or not, which we won't know any more until next Friday.    Through it all, the Lord is teaching me some absolutely incredible life lessons. While I'm certainly not "there yet", I'm beginning to see more clearly that "God's Got This", and I can be perfectly at peace in not knowing what's around the next bend in the road. There is so much to be thankful for, that it would take more time that I'd like to spend in just one sitting to write it all down! But, here's a few "favorite" things I'm thankful for: The provision of a home and food, a wonderful life that despite its trials and tribulations, there is much that makes it very enjoyable. The abundant garden this year, including the fall crop of arugula that's surviving the cold temps & repeated frosts. My great parents and the special time we spent together for my birthday, including this wonderful hike. An especially BIG THANK YOU to My God and King who has faithfully lead and directed me each step of the way along this journey of life.  I'm also thankful for all that has gotten accomplished this year, especially the delay in snowfall, because it has allowed us to get many outdoor projects buttoned up before it was too cold.
